It was made of delicate bone china and has a round shape, which measures 8 inches across. The rim of the plate has a textured design, which complements the overall smooth layout beautifully. The stark white base is augmented by a gold border of bells, holly and ribbons that line the outer edge with "1971" emblazoned on the top. A beautiful angel with flowing hair and long wings is carrying a star in the center. The back of the plate is stamped by the Spode insignia and also reads: "Ding dong! Merrily on high in Heav'n the bells are ringing: Ding dong! Verily the sky is riv'n with Angel singing. Gloria, Hosanna in excelsius!"
