There is no shortage of brands and memorabilia to buy and collect but one of the most popular is Coca Cola. Most people don’t know that the Coke Company facilitates this but the truth is that they have a very vibrant collectors club. Members collect all manner of original Coke branded merchandise for a variety of reasons. Having dabbled in collecting, the following are the reasons why I’m all for it.
- For the Engagement
Collecting coke memorabilia, or anything for that matter, is very engaging and therefore serves as the perfect hobby. The beauty of buying Coca Cola collectibles is that there is no shortage of niches to specialize in. Looking through coke collector websites shows that you can start a collection of something that's relatively easy to find. For instance, if you live in a sea side town, you can go for surfboards. This is one of the main reasons why I started a collection; it was relatively easy to find and mount the collectibles I found interesting. From experience, this engagement is very good to relieve stress without having to spend a fortune on leisure.
- As an investment
It goes without saying that well preserved collectibles tend to sell for well past their original purchase price in antique markets. It is not unheard of to find a given Coca Cola collectible selling for thousands of dollars. This is yet another reason why most people tend to immaculately preserve their collections because you never know which item will become valuable in the future. People collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia chiefly as investment vehicles tend to spend more money on specific items and also tend to pay more attention to storage. For instance, I had cases to keep my items my items in to prevent them from getting damaged and to also enhance their esthetics. The beauty of buying coke branded merchandise for investment allows you to occasionally get valuable pieces for pennies, an advantage not seen in most investments. - For social interaction
More often than not, you find that there are other people interested in collecting the same Coke items that you are. Collecting therefore serves as a venue to make new friends all over the country. Depending on how seriously you take your Coca Cola collecting, you could easily find items worthy of travelling two, three or even more states away just to obtain it. For instance, you may find a person in Ohio selling a vintage coke machine that you are interested in and with the expensive cost of shipping you may find yourself on a road trip and meeting new people. Buying into the coke brand in this fashion will therefore make your life more interesting by taking you on adventures that you would otherwise not have experienced. - For posterity
Out of personal experience, one of the best ways to remember times past is to reflect on items acquired during that time period. You can buy various Coke items to remind you of holidays, sporting events, people etc. without having to spend a ton of money.
